Welcome New Follwers

This post is long overdue. I want to say WELCOME to all my new followers!!! Hope you enjoy reading my blog! I've enjoyed reading yours. :-)

It's February Already??!!

Wow!! The last two weeks have been crazy! I've been extremely busy with my son and his school activities, his basketball season ending, work, and homework. But even though things have been hectic, I'm still managing to stay on track. Last week I didn't weigh. I decided to not weigh in when it's T.O.M. I just don't need to be discourage with the extra bloating and all from it. So, I did weigh in this Friday and ............... I remained the same. Didn't lose, didn't gain. I was sort of disappointed because I've been doing really good with my eating. Not so great with the workouts though so I'm thinking that's what played a huge role in my weight this week. Plus I sort of slacked on the water. I'm still extremely proud of myself though because on the weekends, I haven't been overindulging like I usually do. I'm just so determined to meet my goals this year that I'm trying really, really , really hard to stay on track.

I do have GREAT news that's not related to weight. I got a new job!!!! Finally, all the late nights and weekends of doing homework has finally paid off. My degree landed me a job as an Accountant!!! When I decided to return to school, I knew it was going to be hard. Giving up any extra time I had to do papers and study is hard but it's finally beginning to pay off. I'm still not completely finish with school but I'm almost there. Anyways, I start my new job in a few weeks. I can't wait. I'm looking forward to my new career. Hope everyone is doing great! Have a Happy Valentine's Day!!

Weekly Update and Weigh In

Happy Saturday everyone!! What a busy few weeks I have had. Anyway, I wanted to let you know I have been doing really good with my eating as well as exercising. I'm writing down everything I eat and working out really hard at the gym. I have to be honest, after seeing Jennifer Hudson's weight watchers commercial and seeing how great she looks I was really motivated. I'm determined to get at least 20-25 lbs off by the end of April and I'm willing to put in all the hard work that it takes.

When I stepped on the scale Friday morning, I knew I was going to have good results. I am down 2.5lbs! Yippee!! and I do not plan on sabotaging all my hard work this weekend. Normally on the weekends, I cut back on the exercising, and I indulged with the food. Well NOT this weekend. I'm staying focus and doing the damn thang!! LOL!!

Hope everyone is doing great with the new year! Now it's time to catch up on my blog reading. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy New Year!!!

WOW!!! I can't believe another year has come and gone already. It seems like time is just flying by. Well my goals for this year are pretty much the same, especially when it comes to my healthy journey. Today I'm planning all my foods for the week but my exercise time as well. I plan to hit the gym hard again and pretty much detox myself from all sweets. This is the my year, to make things happen. For the next 3 months I will be very strict with my diet. By then end of March I plan to lose 20-25lbs. I know this can be done because I've done it before. Here's the plan:
  • Eat 3 meals per day with 2 snacks
  • Drink 640z of water or more each day
  • Exercise 5-6 days per week
  • Eat only 1200 - 1500 calories per day
This plan sounds simple but I can assure you for me it's not. But, I know I can do it and I will do it. The holidays are over and it's time to get back to business. I'm fired up and ready to make 2011 a great year.

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I know I did! I really enjoyed myself over the last month or so with family and friends. Part of my new year's resolution is to enjoy life more and not to stress as much. I want to travel more, do more things, just enjoy life more. Life is so short and tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. I'm always trying to achieve things in my career, school, and finances, that sometimes I forget to enjoy myself. So this year I plan on doing this. :-)

Now it's time to go cook and pack my meals for the week. Happy New Year to everyone!

6 Week Body MakeOver Review

I just remembered that I hadn't posted a review on Michael Thurmond's 6 week body makeover yet. First let me just say I found this program to be very restricted after the first few weeks. This is a program that you definitely have to take time out to cook and prepare your foods. If not, you will get bored with the same old food very quickly. Well, at least that's what  happened for me. Basically I was eating the same thing every day, due to the fact that I didn't have time to cook different types of meals. For my body type, the only meats I could have was chicken breast, turkey, and certain types of fish. I couldn't have salmon, which I love. After about the second week, I was tired of eating just 4 types of meat. Unless you have time, there is only so many ways to fix baked chicken and ground turkey. I also couldn't eat any beans and could only have certain fruits. I could have sweet potatoes which I love, so I was eating them for lunch and dinner.

I also found the substitutions for some foods very expensive. If you are on a budget (which I am), then this program is probably not for you.I basically shop with coupons on what's on sale each week, this program did not allow me to do this. Some of the recipes call for special ingredients that you probably will never use, unless you are on this program. One muffin recipe I made, which is made from egg whites instead of flour, was the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. I made a couple other recipes and didn't like any of them.

I will say, I can see this program working but you must follow it and eat only what's on the program. Just make sure you have the time to cook and prepare your meals and be ready for a limited variety.  I just like the freedom of eating a variety of foods and managing my calories and portion size.

I sent it back and received a refund. So if you still want to try it, as long as you return it within the time period, they will refund your money. The only money I was out, was the money to ship it back.

From this point on, I think I will just keep doing things my way, and just let things happen when they happen. Even if this journey is a little slower than I prefer, it's still works great for my busy lifestyle. I don't want to miss out on spending time with my son, because I was stuck in the kitchen all weekend preparing special foods for my weekly meals. Now, I plan my meals and cook them on Sunday and it takes all about 2 hours, sometimes less.

Hope this helps anyone who's thinking of purchasing this program. Oh and I want to say this is just my opinion of the program. For someone else, this may be exactly what you're looking for.
